Format

Whereas many other award ceremonies are relatively static, our format of pods, screens and cutting edge interactive technology will actively encourage guest dialogue and positive networking. Attended by both the UK and worlds top hospitality designers and hospitality operators this 'Canapé & Cocktail' event promises to be one of the most innovative and exciting events in the design and hospitality calendar this year.

Visual interaction

Cinimod Studio has been commissioned to create a system unique to the event. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology will be employed to identify visitors in certain key spots during the evening's proceedings. The tags use radio signals to send their identity to antenna receivers. Projections will then highlight guests' key characteristics (including names, images, logos etc). The Awards will be the first event that combines this technology to create a uniquely 'connected' environment.

Audial interaction

Audialsense proposes an interactive soundscape modulated by occupancy, and function. With a series of loudspeakers located around the site, each will output pure tones. The tones will change according to the volume of networking accomplished. If people are intermingling effectively, the sounds are easy to listen to. Should there be little or no interaction, then the sounds grow increasingly discordant, and dissonant, becoming an aural indicator of the success of the evening.

Canapés

Sponsored by True Taste, Angela Gray and Bethan Gray, two well regarded and successful Welsh personalities in food and design will invite the students of the London City Hospitality Centre at Hackney Community College to a 'culinary design workshop' to be held in South Wales. Introducing some of Wales' top food producers, the two Grays' will oversee the students through the creative and culinary processes. The workshop will give the students the knowledge, insight and inspiration to create a series of canapés, which will then be produced at the Open Kitchen in London and served at the Awards event.

Beverages

Distinctively branded beer and ale will be served by The Otley Brewing Company, based near Cardiff.

Wine will be supplied through Matthew Clark. Both the Domain white (a Bordeaux Blanc) and the Domaine Red (a Premiere Cotes de Bordeaux) are made by the award winning Château du Seuil, a Chateau owned by a Welsh/Kiwi family.
